World-class Sport Fishing Lagoonside is located in the middle of the best "road-system fishing" in the state of Alaska. You won't need luck at the following salmon fishing hot spots that are all within a 20 minute drive: Chiniak Creek, Twin Creeks, Roslyn River, Myrtle Creek, Olds River, Lake Rose Tead, Pasagshak River. Blue water fishing charters are available and are very successful at catching halibut, king salmon, silver salmon, ling cod and rock fish in season. Several lakes in the area are stocked with rainbow trout. Dolly Varden abound along the beaches and in the streams according to the season. Contemporary technology has replaced the materials available to the early kayakers but, the concept is the same. Kayaking is an excellent way to explore protected waters around Kodiak Island.The kayaker is less likely to frighten birds and sea mammals allowing closer observation.
